Dr. N.C.Padhi was born in 1937,
17th of August, at Brahmapur to
Late Sri RP.Padhi and Pratima.
He belongs to a family of
Government officers and
academics. His father was Vice
Chancellor of Brahmapur and
Rajasthan Universities during
the 1960s and seventies after
retiring as Chief Secretary of
Orissa. Dr. Padhi was educated
at Cuttack, Balasore, Sambalpur
and Puri in schools and
Ravenshaw College and SCB
Medical at Cuttack. He
specialized in Surgery and
received his Master of Surgery
degree from the prestigious
Delhi University and Maulana
Azad Medical College, Delhi. He
joined the Orissa Medical
Education Service in1964 and
worked at all the three Medical
Colleges of the state but mostly
at MKCG Medical College at
Brahmapur. The last five years
of his career as a Medical
Teacher was at SCB Medical
College at Cuttack, from where
he took his retirement from
Government Service in 1995. He
was Professor and Head of
Surgery and
MedicalSuperintendent at the
time.
He is socially very active and
his organizational skills have
been appreciated. He has been a
member of Lions Club of
Berhampur since 1968 and has
held the coveted post of
District Governor during
1987-88. He has organized
several conferences at Brahmapur
and Cuttack. The Silver Jubilee
Celebrations of MKCG Medical
College, Brahmapur and the huge
All India Surgeons Conference at
Cuttack are memorable events
organized by him. He has been
the President of the all Orissa
Medical College Teacher's
Association, the Association Of
Surgeons, Orissa Chapter and the
Indian Medical Association of
the Orissa State.
He is associated with several
organizations locally and
nationally. He is still actively
practicing as a surgeon, though
on a limited scale,and is in
charge of the Red Cross Hospital
for the last 9years and the
District Disabled Rehab Centre,
Ganjam.
He is married to Ranjita the
daughter of the famous Kabiraj
Krushna Ch. Tripathy of Aska. He
has a son who is a senior IAS
officer of the State and two
daughters, both doctors and well
settled.
